The offal of daily attrition: prime cuts, odds & ends

Saturday

Got the double 15 dominoes to play Mexican train and use as math flash cards with the kids
Then went to Nomad to look for guides/maps for local trails and was recommended Afoot and Afield series, purchased a copy of the IE version not sure if I will buy the LA/OC/SD varients in store or online. The MSRP is pretty steep on these books, $24, but I want to support their store. Decisions, decisions. Talked up knives with the clerk there, spoke highly of the Spyderco Delica and Native so I'm kind of eying those now but it seems only the collector variants of Spyderco knives are still made in Golden, Co. Pretty weak. Another knife they had which got my attention was the Petzl Spatha (large version), interesting design. Very light weight, but at the expense of feeling cheap. Filled up at Costco then circled back to the Rancho Army Navy store to check their collection of flashlights and knives. Nothing spectacular in the light department, knives were Ken Onion Kershaws and a huge assortment of Spydercos. Don't like the Speed-safe function.
Then we arrived at our destination, Old Town for the sidewalk painting festival.
Not a lot of the pieces were complete, but they were definitely impressive.
